Work Packages and Risk Management
Work packages are rolled up tasks on a timeline. They can be started some time in the future when all of the initiation criteria have been met. Typically, that means after the acquisition of materials and perhaps some site preparation. In the best case, these work packages are easily managed by one or two persons and carried out without any problems. Sometimes there is some defined risk associated with a work package either involving timing, budget, or science. As part of the project plan, QPS will prepare and discuss with the customer a "risk mitigation plan" that can be implemented based on the perceived likelihood for the risk becoming a problem.
